March 4th, 2025
Hi Church!
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, which marks the start of the Lenten season in the Christian Church. Lent is a 40-day period symbolic of Jesus’ 40 days of fasting in the wilderness following His baptism (scripture reference). Ash Wednesday provides us the opportunity to reflect on our own mortality, to repent, and to set our eyes on the Good News that is to come on Easter Sunday. Worship for the day focuses on the themes of sin and death in the light of God’s redeeming love in Jesus Christ.
Ash Wednesday is a special time of worship at LVfirst, and we will hold our Ash Wednesday service on March 5th at 6:30PM in the Sanctuary. Our Ash Wednesday service will be in-person only and will not be live streamed. At LVfirst’s Ash Wednesday service, you can expect a more meditative service with responsive readings, incredible music from our LVfirst Chancel Choir, and an opportunity to receive ashes on your forehead.
Before the service, starting at 5:00PM, we will be serving free soup and sandwiches in the Family Center. Consider joining us in sharing a meal and fellowshiping with your church family before we all head to the Sanctuary at 6:15PM to start the season of Lent together.
Childcare will be available for children kindergarten-age and younger beginning at 6:15PM in the nursery.

Ash Wednesday Devotion
As we journey through this season of Lent together, we will be sharing devotions each week from members of our congregation. You'll find these devotions each week included in our Sunday Recap on Monday mornings. This week, Pastor Deanne has prepared a devotion as we approach Ash Wednesday tomorrow.
