Sunday Re-Cap (September 30, 2024)

Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for a wonderful day of worship. Days like yesterday make it so special to serve this church at this time! I am grateful for your response through your commitments to God and to LVfirst making the claim that it is WORTH IT! If you didn’t get a chance to fill out a commitment card you can do that here. 

You have also been great about your response to the need that Hurricane Helene has left behind. There are a couple of things that we are asking you to do. First, we are going to be collecting and packing supplies for UMCOR cleaning kits to be distributed all across the southeast. Secondly, with my connections in Augusta I am taking a trailer of supplies to the hardest hit areas on Wednesday. If you have time and ability to bring cases of bottled water, food supplies that don’t have to be refrigerated or heated in any way (think poptarts, granola bars, peanut butter and jelly, tuna), premixed chainsaw gasoline, and tarps. As you may be aware they will likely be without power for at least a week, if not more, and many have roof damage that will leak if left un-tarped. You can bring these items to the church during business hours Monday or Tuesday.

 
Thank you in advance for your generosity. As the situations in different regions move from emergency response to recovery, we will have ample opportunities to deploy teams for storm clean up and rebuild. Be patient as emergency crews continue to asses damages in all the different areas, and we will be prepared to respond when the need is known. Keep praying, keep hoping, and keep being people who know that WE NEED US!!!!

Tomeika Richardson is a member of the Lawrenceville community. She has participated in our Parents First Initiative, her apartment complex is a recipient of our Summer Lunch program, and she is now partnering with LVfirst to start an after-school program to support students in her community.

We are in need of candy donations to stock our supplies for Candy at the Cabins and Lawrenceville's Boo Fest! While you're doing your weekly shopping, consider picking up a bag of candy and help us make sure "Jesus doesn't run out of candy."
