Upcoming Opportunities for Parents

Upcoming Opportunities for Parents

Hey Parents!

We understand that being a parent is hard, and we’re here to help!
The Parents First Initiative is a collaborative effort between the Georgia Center for Opportunity and Lawrenceville First United Methodist Church to provide parents like you, with education, resources, and a growing community of parents who are in this journey together. We do this by offering the Raising Highly Capable Kids program in our local schools, along with regular round-table meet ups, and encouraging small groups to explore parenting in the context of faith.

Here are just a few opportunities for you to get involved in the coming weeks:

Raising Highly Capable Kids Workshops

Workshops begin after Labor Day!

Raising Highly Capable Kids (RHCK) is a 10-week evidence-based parenting program developed to build stronger families by empowering parents with the confidence, tools, and skills they need to raise healthy, caring, and responsible children.

Parent Connect Event: Family Values

Join us next Monday, August 26th at 6:30pm in the Warehouse for this connectional opportunity.

As we start the new school year we would like to share some great insights into helping families build a solid foundation on Jesus. Come hear some practical ideas/suggestions and have real conversations with other parents about how you might partner with the church to make a greater impact in the lives of your kid or teenager.

Childcare is available upon request.

Parent Group: Parenting Beyond Your Capacity

The group will meet monthly on Sundays at 11am in the Spotlight Cafe beginning September 8th.

Engage your family in a bigger story -- one that involves other influences who are on a journey to discover why a relationship with God really matters. Come learn how to invite others to invest in your children, create a culture of unconditional love, and tap into the power of quality moments together, building a sense of purpose through everyday experiences.
We would love to walk this parenting journey with you!

Please feel free to reach out to Adam Witter at adamw@lvfirst.org if you have any questions.
